Crisis Core is a prequel of Final Fantasy VII and tells you the story of Zack.

I've finished the game once and I really loved it. The story is nice and the graphics are really nice for a PSP game. The battle system is cool, but it's a lot of 'button bashing'. And the missions are getting a bit boring.

I'm playing it for the 2nd time now on hard and the game is a lot harder indeed. :P

Oh yeah I love Crisis Core. I saw someone with a Cissnei cosplay at the london MCM at the weekend, that was awesome :D

Zack is probably the most likeable protagonist in any Final Fantasy game, which really helps it get under your skin and attach itself to you emotionally. I was expecting the effect to be somewhat hollow, seeing as we already know how events unfold from FFVII, but the way Crisis Core tells those events is very well done.

Downsides: Button mashing battles (as you mentioned, Ziddy), and some pretty bland environments. Midgar for example is woeful.

Having said that, the voice work throughout is some of the best in the franchise and there are some classics in the soundtrack as well. I'm thinking "Under the Apple Tree". Crisis Core features a third series VA for Aerith (following on from Mandy Moore and Mena Suvari) in the form of Andrea Bowen. I feel she is worth a mention all on her own because whilst the previous Aeriths have been ear-wrenchingly poor, she is really good, and suited to the character. I want SE to be aware of this if and when they ever do the FFVII remake! :)

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

I just fininshed Crisis Core on normal.....

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Oh man, I've got to say, everything bad I ever said about Cloud was incorrect. I finally get him, man, it's because of Hojo that he's so messed up. It's because of Hojo that Zack died.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Man I take everything back. Coud HAS got testosterone (he's just a bit shy), Cloud isn't schizophrenic, Cloud is justified MAN! In everything he does. I played Crisis Core and knew Zack for just 21 hours and when I saw him die I f***ing cried my eyes out MAN! If he had just survived until the turks found Him! He took down a SHITLOAD of infantryman all at once and took them down to their last 3 men! If he had just survived a LIIIIIITTLE bit longer! He would have been safe!

DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT! I WANT FF7! I'M ASHAMED TO HAVE NOT PLAYED IT! IT'S ALL I'M MISSING FROM THE COMPILATION!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish there was an alternate ending to Crisis Core where Zack survives. I'm currantly playing FF4 The Complete Collection to get my mind off of that tragic ending. I really wish Zack had taken out those infantrymen. Think of how Luxiere and Kunsel felt.

WHY DID ZACK HAVE TO DIE DAMMIT!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I F***ING HATE HOJO!!!!

Yeah I agree with you Zid that there was a lot of button bashing and the missions got really boring. I have only played the game through once on normal but I couldn't get myself to complete all the missions because of how repetitive they were.
But the storyline and some of the characters we haven't seen much of such as Angeal, Genesis and Cissnei were great.

I loved this game! True, the missions get a bit repetitive, but they were good training and because of them i breezed through the last half of the game.
Zack as a character was very easy to get attatched to and i was completely unprepared for the tragic ending, even though i knew what happened and my brother had already had an hysterical crying fit when he finished the game. I'm happy to say that i didn't react as badly as him, but i couldn't stop the tears. This was masterfully done. He had so many friends and so many people waiting for him to return.
One thing i hated though was that Luxiere bastard. he starts out as a fanboy, which is fine, but his final mail pissed me off.
