Anyone here play and notice how good SO2 is compared to...literally all the other 3 games? I think so, having played them all anyways. I just did a runthrough of the original, but found it a tad too linear, I mean it was good til the end stage where you couldn't go back- if you were under-leveled, you were pretty much history. Had to get that off my chest!
I liked how in 2, its got all the good things about 1 and then some; reject a character-accept another, the battle system, and the actual characters.
80+ endings, THE biggest inventory I've seen in just about any game, a Lv255(?) level cap...
I don't know, Til the End of Time and The Last Hope just didn't measure up.
Any of you guys/girls played SO2? Opinions?
I've played Star Ocean 2, the remake for PSP; I've never played the original, though. Still, they're almost exactly the same, so I can judge.
Star Ocean 2 is absolutely amazing, being about ten times better than the first. (I still loved the first, though.) The game has a decent plot, great characters, great gameplay, an incredible amount of recruitable characters, and very nice replay value. The fact remains that I still prefer Star Ocean 3; however, 2 is on par with 4 for me. The game was just so addicting and fun. VV
That and Leon is just win.

I played some of the PSP remake as well. I did like it but it is different from the more recent ones, so I am still getting use to the system of it. I will go back to it eventually. I didn't keep playing because of the increased difficulty level of it..
Star Ocean 3 still remains one of my favourites though :D

Yep, that's definitely true. =3 Although I do think that perspective has something to do with it, too. The more recent ones were 3D, so you have the more field-ly atmosphere, not just an overhead view. Also, there's no wait for symbols to cast in the 3D ones, but you have the long waiting period for some spells (Meteor Swarm T.T) in the first two. I hated that.

I've been playing a run through this game, and I'm not even halfway done I think. I'm enjoying it, and I should really get back to continuing it soon. Yes, at one point the game does get insanely difficult, but a bit of nice leveling in a few spots work miracles.
