View Full Version : Stop Moving!
Haha, my whole life, I've never been able to stay in one place for very long without doing anything. My parents told me that as a little kid, I hated having to sit down and stay put; I would always just get up and run. I think that carried on to my older years as well.
I can never stand not doing anything. Yet, I don't like being active, which is kind of ironic. Back on topic, though, whenever I have to wait in one place and I'm standing, I start to walk around in circles... Weird, I know, but I can't help it. I have to keep moving and a circle is the only shape where I don't need to turn around. xD
If I'm sitting down, though, I swing my legs a whole lot. I also tap my fingers on the hand-rest or anything near me so I don't get bored. Even as I'm sitting in my chair typing this, I have to move my legs. ^_^"
So the question is, can you stay put?

Quite a random topic... But very creative I must admit!
Actually I have a hard time too. I don't even notice it.. When I play video games I do this weird nervous shake with my legs which they repeatedly tap on the floor. I use to rock back and forth sometimes sitting, but I seemed to stop that and only do it if I feel uneasy (calms me down XD). Also when I use to talk on the phone I would actually walk and pace on the phone, now I just lie down and talk.
Sometimes I can be the opposite where I barely move, and when I sleep I sleep very quietly and don't move...
So I dunno what it is!
It sounds like you are just restless :P
it reminds me of a teacher I had, he always has to move, when he sits he shakes his leg, but during tests he stands up and paces around the room XD

Heck no! If I have to stand I always pace back and forth. If I'm sitting I'll start lifting myself out of the chair using my arms and start doing like, push-ups. I hate standing still. That's why I play sports. They keep me moving.
Sometimes I can. I noticed it the past week at a festival, but I can't do NOTHING for to long either. But when the sun is shining with 40 degrees (celsius), and you're lying down in grass, I do however stay down.
But I have ADHD as well, so that might also have something to do with it.

I still do these. lol If I'm sitting I have to be rocking, I've been like that my whole life. >.< I do yoga and go to gyms and stuff sometimes with friends but no matter how tired I am I still have to be moving. lol I also find that I rock more when I'm tired or upset. O.o Maybe my mommy rocked me too much when I was a baby? XD
I do the same thing when on the phone :P Unless I'm handling serious business, then I'm just seated with my pen and paper, lol.
For me it kind of depends on the place, if it's at a shop or something casual I will likely waddle around some.
If I'm sitting around idly around my computer I have the tendency to hold a pen and swing it around....sometimes it doesn't feel right without it o.o
I have to do something with my hands when walking. I can't just let them hang by my sides. I often put them in my pockets but when I have no pockets, it drives me INSANE!
Also, when sitting down, I need to change my leg position every few minutes. It goes from tucked under chair to out in front of me each time.

I am trained in Ninjutsu, 'staying put' is an essential ability I have learned. You need to overcome yourself mentally and resist bodily urges.

Yeeees, people who are like me. haha.
As a kid I used to make myself fall asleep my twisting my fingers in my hair, and usually i would fall asleep with my fingers still stuck there. And it came to one time me...apparently...getting a bald patch because of it.
Joy lol.
anyway I always have to be doing something with my hand, holding something; also I can't stand still, I always have to be walking.

I can't stand still the easiest. When I'm sitting I'm always moving my legs. Except for mabe when I'm typing, playing a game, or mabe doing school when my upper body is moving. When I'm just standing around talking I'll like wave back and forth or start doing random small kicks with my feet, lol.

Why don't I beleive that? It sounds like you're showing off.
Me? I have to move something. Cross-my-legs-and-hope-to-keep-still, sort of thing.

Don't limit others by your own limitations.

I can never stay put. I've got a pretty bad case of ADHD. :))
It may have started during elementary school, when I was assigned to recite or do anything else in front of the class, I tend to move around the platform, causing my teacher to scold me, saying, "Stop doing that! You're making the whole class dizzy!"
Then whenever I sit down to wait for something, I tend to bite my nails, look in every direction, tap my fingers against my knees (following a beat), or play with my legs.
Sometimes I just play with a pen during class, because we all have to admit: it does get boring.
And it gets worse when I'm nervous, because that's when I really start to get all over the place. One minute I'm sitting next to you, the next I'll be outside pacing back and forth until either I finally get tired, or I start to feel less jumpy.
It annoys a few people (including me), but most of the people I encounter actually find it cute. :>
