The latest review I saw quoted them in saying that they'd only create the remake if it only took a year to do so. Which leads me to believe that they'd port it to the PSP. If so, that's very upsetting. I've no plans of buying a PSP, though I said that about the PS3 and if it were actually ported to the PS3, I'd view that as a warrant for myself to buy it. They really need to stop teasing and either be fully blunt with an answer. To be honest, I don't care about most of anything else they're working on, save for maybe Versus XIII which could be a great game if Nomura's team has full say in it.

I agree with the others who have said they're against a remake. There are many other games in Square-Enix's library that deserve remakes and don't get the attention they should. The fact that many people have FFVII as the first game in the series that they've ever played tends to make people confuse nostalgia with it being a good game, and thus the remake will be greatly overshadowed.

In fairness, people never really expected a remake to begin with. The demand only came after the PS3 tech demo and Advent Children. Unlike with perhaps more 'worthy' games such as FFVI, Square-Enix have actually shown off what could be possible if they decided to remake VII, which makes everyone want it. Including me, I have to say.

It's like car companies that show off concept cars. I didn't want a car with neon headlamps and a steering wheel from an aeroplane with the seat in the middle and cameras instead of wing mirrors. The thought had never crossed my mind. But then they went and showed me how awesome it would be. And now I do.

Hmm, I think a remake of Final Fantasy VII is possible and i t wouldn't surprise me if they are already working on it. Public announcements mean nothing nowadays.
I think SE know, as we all do, that a remake would have to be PERFECT and that if it wouldn't be perfect, they would lose alot of confidence from loyal FF fans.

So, imo, they should only make it if it's pitch perfect.. And I have little hope for VIII and IX remakes..

Oh my goodness, honestly though, I would be almost afraid for this remake. I'm afraid the fact that they release it on the PS3, that means they will take a decade to release it because so much work is required. I remember seeing somewhere before that they said Midgar by itself would require waay too much detail, and I don't think they'd be able to put in the game.

Like I know everyone expects godliness from the PS3, but it's so hard to work that technology, and games made for it tend to be pretty massive. Honestly for XIII, I was disappointed that they didn't put in any towns and what not. Imagine if they took the same route on FFVII or even worse, they cut out some parts.

I need my world map and towns back XD

For the PSP, I don't think it would do it justice either, it would be so hard to put a lot of detail and fit on on there. I think the PS1 rerelease was good enough.
But somehow they managed with Crisis Core, but that game wasn't that long to begin with if you decided to not tackle the extra missions.

Hmm yes you are right! Bt they could start using more Blu-Ray discs for a single game, like they did for the XBOX with FF XIII. Imagine that we have 3 BD's for the FF VII remake and XBOX would have nine discs

Ofcourse the game is PS-only, but just imagina.. NINE discs

Yeah honestly I don't think that would ever happen. If they needed several Blu Ray discs just to complete the game, that means that the game would be QUITE MASSIVE. Which also means that it would A LOAD of time, and money to make this. If they made it for the Xbox too (I have nothing against it, I own one), then it would take even longer, I would say like what, 15 years? lol
By then I think they'd be on a next gen console, which would make their profits go down a little, I would think. You wouldn't be able to afford that happening if you decide to put in a lot of money and effort into the project. Also by then, would the staff change? What types of gamers would starting out (perhaps they wouldn't have heard of the FF series), or even worse, would FF still be living up to it's name considering that 15 years (just a guess) is a long time to not see any fresh series coming out?
I waited about 4 years for XIII to come out and that was TOO LONG for me XD
